Computing in the community

GSM London

GSM London’s focus on student employability and related work experience can benefit the local community. The OBHR, Marketing and Events Faculty has been building links with charities to create an initiative that aims to provide students with real life work experience and charities with much needed business skills. The initiative runs across modules and the joint committee comprises of Brian Buckley, Director; Baba Sheehan IT lecturer and Carina Travel and Tourism IT.

This year students will work with the Parent Support Group (PSG), a local charity that works with the carers of young people. As part of the Systems module, students will engage directly with the charity on their internet development and database management.

Zach Thompson said: ‘This is an opportunity for GSM London to get involved with and to contribute to the local community. The student’s work will make a real difference.’
