Level 6 Oil and Gas Management student, Lovelyn Abbas Salihu, shares her experience of the GSM London trip to Brescia (in Northern Italy) and how the warehouse visits helped her gain an insight into the importance of logistics for the oil and gas sector.
‘The trip was a great opportunity for me to gain more insight into what the oil and gas sector is about and understand the other aspects of the industry, especially logistics. The practical experience works great alongside the teachings and helped me see the energy sector from a new perspective – Logistics.
I found that no matter which direction the market goes (the balance between oil and gas) logistics and procurement will always be at the centre of it. The trip enlightened me to the reality of the sector and the opportunities available in it.
Trips, like this one to the warehouse in Italy, are really important to help students see the broad opportunities and how the sector can allow you to work anywhere internationally and there’s space to make a success in the industry. Plus, I got to drive a forklift, which is definitely a first for me.’
Practical trips, like Lovelyn’s to Italy, are an essential part of the degrees at GSM London; that help students see their theory in practice and experience the industry first-hand.
